An interesting story out of China… when close to 50 animal loving volunteers saved 1,000 cats before they were shipped to local restaurants. The truck which was transporting the cats had a mechanical breakdown and was immobile on the side of a busy highway for hours. When word got out a team of volunteers rushed to the truck and purchased them for an undisclosed amount. Typically cats are sold for less than $2 per pound and are frequently eaten in chinese restaurants. Supposedly, the area where this happened, Guangdong, is a southeastern part of China where eating cat meat is accepted. Read the full story HERE.
Yes, China’s economy is booming and on it’s way to surpassing the size of the once sole great superpower USA. Yes, China’s infrastructure, notably their high speed rail system, is unprecedented. But they also eat kitty cats. The USA National Basketball team is sponsored by Reebok while China’s National Basketball team is sponsored by hello kitty — I’m kidding.
But seriously this is sick. When I first read this story I got nauseous, spit out the cannoli I was eating, and then got angry. More angry than when Carly Rose Sonenclair lost X Factor and when that happened I went BUCK. I can’t believe I’m blogging about this, but people need to be exposed to some of the immoral stuff going on around the world. People who eat cats are hyenas. Hats off to the volunteers that saved these poor animals. And what’s up with this city called Guangdong? I’ll tell you what, I’d kick this truck driver in the Guangdong if I saw him.
