Sam Wilmot, Rory Lovatt, and Beth Garrett make up Matlock based Nu-Disco trio Patawawa. We discovered them through our homies LBCK out in LA earlier this year, after hearing a remix of their summery standout track “Back To Life“.
Influenced by some of Funk and Soul’s legends (Stevie Wonder, Aretha Franklin), as well as newer French Touch artists (French Kiwi Juice, Zimmer), the Derbyshire developed three-piece live in that boogie-and-groove space of sound that we absolutely love. Feel-good music at it’s finest, Patawawa has the retro vibes to connect with older audiences, and that New Cool flair that can lure in more modern Nu-Disco lovers.
Yesterday they released their newest single, “Red and White”, and it was love at first listen. Groovy bass lines, bubbly horns, funky guitar licks and irresistibly cheerful vocals create an uplifting and energetic cap to summer.
