Damon “Dam-Funk” Riddick has been a cultivator of funk since he was old enough to play the drums. He was born a 70s baby, worked an apprenticeship under funk songwriter/producer Leon Sylvers III, was heavily involved in the mid-90s G-Funk era in hip-hop and in 2006 reintroduced funk to L.A. with his Funkmosphere party. Since signing to Stones Throw Records in 2009, DāM-FunK has helped lead the modern day resurgence of funk with 5 successful projects.
Today DāM-FunK releases a funkified version of Disclosure’s “Holding On” (ft. Gregory Porter) to the public and it’s a fun, refreshing perspective for the hit. The master of midnight boogie comes thru hard with the funk and it’s perfect for the hump. Enjoy your Wednesday all
